College of Management & Technology has been sponsored by College of Management Studies (CMS), which was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of Bihar Late Karpoori Thakur at Patel Maidan, Samastipur on 15th November, 1978 in presence of Chief Guest Sri Guneshwar Prasad Singh (then State Minister of Higher Education, Science & Technology), Special Guests were Er. S.N. Singh (Project Manager, IDPL, Muzaffarpur) and Prof. T.N. Chaudhary (Faculty of Management, Bihar University) and the function at Patel Maidan was presided over by Sri Ramavatar Sharma, then Director of Warehousing Corpn. Bihar. CMS was set-up in June, 1978 and got Registered under SR Act, 1860 (vide Regn. no. 387 of 1978-79). In April, 1979 the institution got shifted to Muzaffarpur by a Resolution dated 22/04/79 from Samastipur.
The Regd. Society College of Management Studies (CMS) on 31st January. 1981 resolved to sponsor a job-oriented Institute of Administrative Studies (IAS) at Muzaffarpur and nursed this new institution which in May, 1990 separated by registration no. 196 of 1990-91, keeping its office in the same building. This Institute was recognised by State Board of Technical Education (Department of Science & Technology) Govt. of Bihar in 1987 and further recognised by AICTE (Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India) in 1995 as an Autonomous Institution for PGDM (MBA) Course and since then all Management & IT Department are taken care by its RR Sahu Centre for Business Administration.
